Sway Calloway And Entertainment Leaders Support Black Star Line Festival In Accra, Ghana

On January 6, 2023, the Black Star Line Festival will take place in Accra, Ghana, and bring together industry leaders, creatives, surprise guests, and more from all over the planet for a series of events and art exhibitions.

Vic Mensa, Chance The Rapper, and their supporting teams have been working across multiple continents to produce an event with a global impact. For too long, Black-American artists haven’t had the chance to present their work in Africa; the Black Star Line Festival seeks to build dialogue between Black artists everywhere and the motherland, acting as a vessel for international solidarity.

More than 100 years after the launch of Marcus Garvey’s famous shipping company, Black Star Line, endeavored to bridge the divide between us by the sea. In the spirit of Kwame Nkrumah’s Seminal Independence Speech (view the entire speech here) The Black Star Line Festival aims to accomplish this goal using the power of creative genius found in art and expression. The mission of the Black Star Line Festival is to provide an open platform for talented creatives that highlights their unique stories, artwork, and skills.

The Black Star Line story has been a source of authentic and inspiring content for people of color worldwide. This festival is a testament to Marcus Garvey’s vision and how it continues to touch the creative souls of today.

Sway Calloway, Founding Team member at POLARIS Universe, the silent record-breaking ‘skunkworks’ of content creation, is on-location in Accra, Ghana, supporting the effort. Dave Chappelle and other legendary names in the entertainment industry are currently there to help this project come to life. Also seen in the image captured above Mathieu Bitton (@candytman), the creative group consists of Actor, Comedian, and recent Educational Hero of Agona Nsaba Michael Blackson (@michaelblackson), Legendary Recording Artist Talib Kweli (@talibkweli), and Emmy Nominated Film Director Coodie Simmons (@coodierock). Sway is currently working on a “special project” in the country for his platform. Stay tuned for more on this endeavor.
