Cheers to 2023!

As we enter another year of excellence, the good folks at P O L A R I S put together a snapshot of the “rebound” year (post-Pandemic) that saw the culture back outside for the first time in two years.

From the dominant return of the Rolling Loud Festival to the urban dominance of black culture taking control of major tent poles (Super Bowl halftime show with Dr. Dre, Grammy Awards, Oscar Awards, Billboard Music Awards), Black was it in 2022 … and beyond.

On the music front, there were a number of defiant albums that ruled the culture, from Pusha- T’s Almost Dry album, to Nas’ masterpiece trilogy, Kings Disease 3, Metro Boomin’s – Heroes & Villains, Drake and 21 Savage’s – Her Loss highly touted collaboration, Flo Milli’s You Still Here, Ho, Quavo, and Takeoff’s Only Built For Infinity Links, Freddie Gibb’s $oul $old $eparately, Megan Thee Stallion’s Traumazine JID The Forever Story, and much more.

The POLARIS brain trust consists of Tuma Basa (YouTube), Rob Markman (Genius), Shaheem Reid (POLARIS), and Rahman Dukes (POLARIS), aligned to have a healthy conversation that saw a year of triumphs and tragedies that affected the culture.

The brain trust outlined their favorite moments of the year, from album releases to breakout stories. With that said, we present to you, “The North Star Year End Report 2022.”
